FSM | Asset QR: Generating and Scanning

What is Asset QR ? 

Asset QR refers to a QR code generated for a specific asset (equipment or item) within the Caction system. Each asset has its own unique QR code, which is directly linked to that asset’s details in the system.

Once generated, the Asset QR acts as a quick access point to the asset information, eliminating the need to manually search for assets inside the app. This is especially useful when managing equipment across multiple customers, jobs, and projects.

The behavior of the Asset QR depends on which QR scanner is used.

 

How to Generate Asset QR Code ? 

Asset QR Codes are generated directly from an asset record in the Caction system. Each QR code is uniquely linked to a specific asset and can be shared in printed or digital format.

Asset QR Codes can be generated from both the desktop and mobile app versions of Caction.

Generate QR Code For Asset - Mobile App

    1. In Caction Mobile App, go to Home page.

    2. Click “Asset” to open asset list in app

    3. Click the asset that you want to generate QR code.

    4. Click the three dots icon.

    5. Click “Generate QR Code” to generate a QR code for this asset.

      *Note: If you don’t see this option to generate a QR, please contact your admin to request for permission.

    6. Select the “Template” you want.

      *Note: This template refers to the placement of the company logo in the center of the QR code.

    7. When you saw this “Success” prompt, means that the QR Code for this asset has been generated.

Generate QR Code For Asset - Desktop

  1. The QR code is generated from the Asset Details page. For example, from the Asset List to proceed.

  2. From asset list, choose required asset and click the launch icon to open the asset details

  3. At the top right corner of “Asset Details” page, click the ellipsis.

  4. If the asset’s QR code has not generated before, click “Generate QR”.

    *Note: If you don’t see this option to generate a QR, please contact your admin to request for permission.

  5. The generated QR code will appear as the image below.

Scanning Caction QR Code 

Scanning an Asset QR code allows you to quickly access the specific asset details within the system. Simply open the QR scanner, point your camera at the Asset QR code, and you will be automatically redirected to the corresponding Asset page.
